"It's better than throwing rocks"

A lot of new shooters choose small handguns chambered in low recoil cartridges - like the .22 LR or the .22 magnum - for their first carry pistol. To that I've always said, "it's better than throwing rocks!"
“Every classroom has been equipped with a five-gallon bucket of river stone. If an armed intruder attempts to gain entrance into any of our classrooms, they will face a classroom full students armed with rocks and they will be stoned,” said Dr. David Helsel.
As an outside-the-box self defense solution, I don't think this idea is all the way wrong. My preference is obviously to see armed, consenting, responsible, adult citizens repelling gunmen with adequate weaponry. I suppose, when evaluating the appropriateness of this plan, I have some questions:
  1. Is throwing stones at a person an example of deadly force?
  2. If it is deadly force, and a concern of permitting armed adults in schools is that children might get their hands on a gun, is it appropriate to then have a bucket of deadly weapons placed in each classroom?
  3. Will the stones be available in the open for quick deployment, or will they be locked away accessible only to the teacher?
  4. What will happen when a student uses the stones to attack another student or a teacher?
  5. Will students be permitted to carry their own self defense stones with them, say, in their backpacks? If not, why?
  6. At what age will students be expected to participate in the stoning of an intruder?
  7. What is the plan for protecting students too young to stone an intruder?
  8. What training will be provided for students and teachers to ensure a well regulated intruder stoning force, and at what interval will the training be offered?
  9. Will training include psychological inoculation for killing humans with stones, such as viewing videos of humans being stoned to death, and stoning practice with realistic targets?
  10. Will the use of slings or slingshots be permitted for use either in training or stoning an intruder? If not, why?
